The first comic book I ever collected was "Captain Carrot and the amazing zoo crew"!! That got me started on everything. Well this weekend MOCcA was having a comic book gallery show, with a group of NYC comic book artist. One of them was Stan Goldberg, who is mostly known of doing Archie comics. BUT he was the penciler on Captain Carrot! So took a train out to MINEOLA! Which is about 30 minutes out of NYC. It was fun and I meet a bunch of comic book folks.

There were 2 strange things about MINEOLA.
1. Right near the train station is the crazy future building>>>>(see photo) the rest of Mineola is a quaint small NY state town.
2. Down the main streets the building numbers go in both directions. The right side of the street went from 180 -300. The side I was on went from 270 -70. So obviously was confused. I was later told that one side of the street in Mineola, and the other side of the street was another county!?!?!>>>>

One more thing > I hung flyers for this event, I went to every comic book store in Manhattan on 2 of the hottest days on record. 98-99! Down in the subway they said it was 110!!! It was crazy hot. I was dripping wet, just waiting for the train… plus the long walk from the train to the gallery in MINOLA was also crazy hot!! So this event was HOT HOT HOT>>>>>>>
