Sept 7 , 2002

Near the beginning of Aug I was getting ready to mail in samples of my comic books to publishers, when I learned the Small press expo was going to be help in Washington Dc Sept 6-8. Every publisher I was going to mail samples to was going to be there. So I figured it would be better to meet them in person. I tried to get rides down with friends but that ended up not working. So I decided to take the train. Hotel rooms in Washington were $100.oo a night, so I decided to get up super early and take the train down sat morning and then take it back that same night.

I left the house at 5:45, got to the subway stop at 6, and the sun was coming up. Got to Penn station around 6:45, got on my train, got into DC around 10:30. Took the subway form Union station, to Bethesda. (Which was about at 30-minute subway ride) I then walked about 4 blocks and was at the convention. I meet a bunch of fun folks, but all the publishers were not looking at portfolios, they were there to sell books! I got to meet with monkey suit, and learned they are here in NYC.

I leave the convention around 2ish, and arrive back in Astoria at 7:15. As I walk off the train the stations lights flicker on, and I realize that it's sunset. I find it funny that I left at sunrise went to Washington dc and was home by sunset.

I am fascinated by other subway systems. Washington's was great! I felt like I was in a 70's sci-fi, like Logan's run! My new curiosity is why are all subway seats orange or red? Even in Boston they are orange and red? Very strange, who decided those are subway seat colors?

And now I am off the put together packages to mail to publishers>>>>>
